Boy, what fun I had this year at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival. One of the most exciting parts was working with kids at the Kidz Kitchen Cook-off where my buddy, Jamie Oliver and I were each paired with an awesome kid cook in an Iron Chef type cooking contest! In the end, the judges called it a tie but really we all won, having fun in the kitchen and whipping up healthy and fun foods. My team made a Monte Cristo sammie on whole wheat bread. Yum-o!
You can read all about the coverage of this event and the others in our news section. Go here!

I have to admit to a tad bit of jealousy setting in looking at that picture! I can NOT wait for the warm sun and colors of spring/summer to arrive!
I also can not wait until my little one is old enough to cook with (and for!) I have so many things that I want to share with her!

hi Rachael,
I’m currently participating in a TV show campaign for ABC Family’s show, Wildfire. It’s about the relationship between a girl and her best friend; a horse named, Wildfire. She was brought into in a new environment where she could turn her life around and start over. During this adjustment, she develops new friendships, a romance, and was welcomed into a family that she grew to love. Wildfire has touched the hearts of millions including my own. Unfortunately, ABC Family decided to cancel the show due to money issues. The reason why I’m writing to you is because I’m asking for your help on spreading the word about Wildfire on your show being that your a tramendous force in your chosen field. Please help us Rachael. You won’t regret it, I promise. Thank you for reading my message. Have a nice day.

There is nothing better than getting the kids involved in food.
My husband is an executive chef and I have three kids. We have taught them about the food we eat AND taught them to cook some of it. I have to admit, I wish they knew more and did the dishes without my nagging, but someday they will be gone and I will miss the busy kitchen I once had.
I used to live near Orlando (worked at Disney) and in Fort Myers Beach. There are many children there with parents that HAVE to work all the time and don’t have time to spend in the kitchen with their kids. I believe this is may be the stem of the “eating right” challenge we have with kids in America today. Thank you and Jamie (love him too) for taking great care of our children.

I am from upstate New York, just outside of Binghamton, currently living in Atlanta. I wanted to tell you how much you remind me of home. You have a wonderful upbeat personality and you are adorable. I’ve enjoyed your shows and your magazine. I went to school at the age of 46 to get my culinary degree because of shows like yours and Emeril’s. Thank you for all that you contribute to the culinary industry. I hope you are inspired for many years to come.

Hi Rachael,
It’s Zahra again (the girl who’s campaigning for Wildfire), just a few things I forgot to mention to you….
1) The link to the official forum for the show,
ABCFamily.com/Wildfire, click on “forum”.
2) ABC Family is trying to discourage us from saving the show by deleting ALL of our campaign posts without an explaination.
3) The show is now put on hold for the next 6 weeks because it was replaced by a DUMB show called, America’s Prom Queen.
4) The show comes back on April 28th for the remaining 4 episodes. By that time, we need more viewers (in the 10s of MILLIONs range) to tune in.
5) Us fans are trying to get other networks to pick up the show.
6) If you’re interested in knowing, my screen name on the forum is, love4wildfire.
Again, I hope you could find it in your heart to help us out Rachael. We’re desperate to have a person like you on our side. Thank you again for reading my message. Have a great day.

Hi Rachael,
I read in a local newspaper columb that Robert Urvine from “Misson Impossible” was being “canned” by Food Network because some of the references he gave when he was hired. Is this true? If it is, could you do anything to support him staying on? I really like Robert. At first he caame of as too tough, By he has shown real heart in some of the episodes of Mission Impossible. I’d hate to see him go. I tried to write him at Food Network, But he is not listed as one of the celebrity chefs. Maybe with your soaring popularity, he could benefit by you chapioning his cause.
A loyal Food Network fan,
Elizabeth Wheeler

Hello Rachael,
This is the very first time I have ever written to a celeb! Here goes, I watch you faithfully, I can only dream of going the places you have been and tasting the great foods all over. I have a dilema. My husband is Italian, (thats not the problem) I love to try your Italian dishes, my husband wants me to make Zepoles, and I have tried, really I have but they never turn out right, so he says, I have never had them. If you had the chance to help me, that would make my day!!! I want to say, thank you for being you.

Hi Rach!
I am a huge fan and was reading through your recent blog and comments. I was a bit shocked to read that there were rumors of your show cancelling…What a tragic mistake the network would be making. I have not missed one day of your new show since it started. (Thank god for Tivo!)
I found a link to dispell the rumors for any future visitors here on this site…

Hi Rach
Greetings from a very sunny South Africa. My girls (10 year old twins) and I love watching your show, infact it’s on right now!
I have the best time teaching Cyan and Ashlin how to cook and try and have as much fun with them in the kitchen as I possibly can! Your great recipes makes it that much easier for me to keep them interested, thanks for adding so much light into our lives!
“Yum-O” is our new catch phrase and even my hubby, who has never seen your show (he’s at work when it airs here), uses it - OFTEN!
Must go, LL Cool J is in your kitchen - and he’s fine!!!

Actually this is about one of your shows that I recently saw and do not know how to find the right responding point. I watched the show of the animal shelter that burned down and was devistated by it. Recently a friend of mine lost his dog of 12 years and another friend posted this poem. I thought it would be good to pass it on:
The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor.
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together,
but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group,
flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet,
so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

I read a reply that indicates your daytime show might be cancelled? I hope not! I guess I am not up on the latest but we don’t get cable because of expenses and I love to finally see you on tv. When I would visit those who have cable I tried to watch when you were on but the tv show is great with all the variety. Just today learning about the green ways to save (especially the umbrella) and the new type of cart along with the recipe and all. What could even come close to replacing you? Please say it isn’t true.
Thanks for your spirit, recipes and making cooking fun.

Just wanted to say Thank you. This past Febuary our Grandson Brian was on your President’s day show. He was thrilled. That day the recipe for the day was Swedish Meatballs with egg noodles. Well, what should I tell you that a couple of days after the show Brian along with his Dad made them for their dinner. Brian’s Brother and Mother along with us his grandparents just wanted to tell you it was DELISH.
Keep up the good work. You are Charming.
Thanks Again,
Brian’s Grandparents Eva and Jerry.

Hi Rach,
I just wanted to let you know that the color I hate most is ORANGE! I would love to buy some of your products, but just can’t get myself to purchase ORANGE anything for my kitchen. I know that in color psychology ORANGE makes you feel hungry. I just wanted to suggest maybe offering your products in another color choice, like maybe a vibrant blue, which is the color compliment to your favorite color ORANGE! Or maybe a neutral color like beige or black, for people who have high end kitchens and don’t want that splash of obtrusive color. I bet I’m not the only person who feels this way, your company should do some market research! - Las Vegas, NV
April 3rd, 2008 at 6:45 pm
I love this idea - “Kidz Kitchen Cookoff” - this would make a great fund raiser event for schools (who we all know are in dire need of extra funding!) And just think what could happen if a few fabulous and famous chefs joined like you did to pair with the kids! I have not seen this done yet and it would be great to get some new ideas out to charities and fund raising committees.
Thanks for always inspiring us!
