Dear Cleaning Lady,
Is there any way to remove color that has bled on other clothes in the laundry? My little boy had a pair of white socks with a tiny red stripe that ended up staining a pair of his brand new khakis. AAAAHHH!

Dear Jamie,
Assuming the khakis are cotton, try washing them again with hot water, laundry soap and ammonia. You could also rub one of those laundry stain removal sticks on the spots before you throw it in the wash again. Don’t dry them until you have tried to get the stains out a few more times. This may not come out, but it is worth a few tries!

Try rubbing some alcohol on it and then wash it and immediately dry it! It Works!

Once, my son left crayons in his pants pockets that I did not find before drying them. The ENTIRE load of clothes were covered in crayon streaks!! What totally worked for this stain was a scoop of oxyclean, a capful of tide (cold water brand), and rubbing the spots with SHOUT. This combination really worked. Don’t know if it will work for the color stain you have, but it is worth a try!

I need help on how to clean out drains. My daughters drain backs up constantly. I have one of those mesh nets over the drain for hair, but it still backs up. I have used liquid drain cleaners to no avial.

There is a product called Carbona. This line has several different solutions to treat specific types of stains. There is one to remove dye. I used it on my daughter’s dress after dyeing eggs once and it was like magic. The dye disappeared from her dress before my eyes! It’s low price makes it worth a shot.

Dear Cleaning Lady,
My fiance and I just purchase our first home and the seller’s washer and dryer were included in the purchase. I am excited about this as we don’t have our own washer/dryer, but it grosses me out that this is the washer and dryer that someone else has been using for a while. Do you have any suggestions on how to clean these appliances? Thanks!

dear Carly: I clean my washer and dryer once a month to get rid of soap and hard water buildup. I use 2 cups warm water mixed with 1 cup vinegar and 2 leamons squeezed in the mix. It works great and leaves all the metal in my washer looking like brand new.

I have had the color runs many times over the years with six children. Now that there all grown and gone I find a product that helps by just re-washing. Throw in one sheet of SHOUT COLOR CATCHERS which I buy at Wal-Mart.

While oiling my teak furniture today, I accidently got teak oil on my travertine floor and now have oily stains that won’t come out. Help!

I had to get out some kind of red drink from my carpet and was told to use 1 part ammonia 1 water, wet a white towel with the mixture, place over stain and place hot iron, no steam, on top of towel. It will draw the stain into the towel. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE WINDOWS OPEN AND VERY GOOD VENTILATION!! If that doesn’t work well, then wet the stain with the mixture and put towel over and iron. May take several trys to get all of stain up.
If all else fails,you will have to spend some $$ and get SpotShot. It make most everything disappear from carpets, but costs more money.
