Homemade bathroom cleaner Posted by The Cleaning Lady on October 14, 2009 | 6 Comments

The bathroom - talk about a room you want to keep free of any toxins! Many store bought cleaners are harsh and contain chemicals you might not want to come into contact with. Here are some recipes to try for homemade, non-toxic bathroom cleaners. Post any recipes that work for you to share with our readers.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner:

Mix 1/4 c. baking soda with 1 cup vinegar. Pour into bowl, let sit for at least a  few minutes and up to a half hour, scrub and flush.

Tub and Tile:

For basic cleaning, rub baking soda into surface with a damp sponge and rinse with water ( you can add a few tablespoons of liquid soap if you want). For tougher jobs, wipe surfaces with vinegar first, then rub in baking soda and rinse with water - use vinegar sparingly however as it can break down tile grout.

Bathroom tile grout mold:

Mix one part hydrogen peroxide with 2 parts water in spray bottle and spray affected surface. Wait one hour and rinse with water.

Great stuff but what about my eye glasses?

In a 20 ounce plastic water bottle add 2-3 ounces of isopropyl rubbing alcohol, 3 drops of dish detergent, one drop of food color, and fill with distilled water. Put in a sprayer bottle marked as “Eye Glass Cleaning Stuff” and use to clean glasses carefully with a clean micro-fiber towel …. this has worked perfectly for me for many years!
